Founded in 2017 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Hiber has created a social entertainment platform where people can play and create on their mobile devices and PCs. With thousands of interactive 3D experiences created each day, and more than one million created to date, there is always something to do.

As CTO at Hiber you will have full technical responsibility and mandate. 

To take on this role you need to have the right mix of ingenuity, problem-solving, communication skills, constitution and stamina to help scale a start-up. Your role is central to our collective success. You are joining at a stage where there are quick, strategic decisions to be made, as well as a rapidly changing environment where we support each other across disciplines and address emerging opportunities. 

Areas of responsibility:

  • Be a central part of building a solid and forward-looking engineering culture
  • Working together with Lead Architects to execute the architecture and technology strategy, based on the company-wide vision and strategy
  • Leading a team of engineers, including managing performance, career progression and recruitment, at least in the early stages as the role evolves.
  • Leading the company’s development process and making sure it’s aligned with the company’s other departments
  • Assessing, creating and maintaining excellent engineering practices
  • Implementing effective, proven policies and procedures for the review of code and code quality amongst the engineering team
  • Budgeting responsibility for the tech team
  • Identifying areas for improvement within the engineering environment and bringing forward solutions to make the improvements
  • Ensuring stability and performance of products including security
  • Vendor/supplier vetting, coordination and management

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has 10+ years of proven technology experience in social media, games, or similar
  • Has excellent leadership skills and loves to coach individuals and build strong teams
  • Is a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator
  • Is solutions oriented and seeks positive results while thriving in environments characterized by constant change, complex market conditions and creativity
  • Is an emphatic, inspirational and communicative leader injecting positive energy into the entire organization 
  • Is commercially minded and understands business requirements
  • Has a strong background in Leading and Growing tech teams
  • Has demonstrated excellence in building scaling platforms using development frameworks
  • Is a passionate games fan, as a creator or consumer
  • Has mobile game development experience (iOS and Android)
  • Has social network and/or communications platform experience including an understanding of the different challenges surrounding online and mobile communities
  • Has strong strategic skills to take ownership of all technical aspects of Hiber

  • Full-time, permanent Senior Management position
  • Reports to CEO
